No, Bill Richardson, who is the newest high-profile Obama endorsement, did not get drafted to play for the Kansas City Major League Baseball team. Back in the ‘60s, when Billy was in shape and kids his age were worried about another, much less appealing type of draft, the Kansas City Athletics (who since moved to Oakland) were scouting Richardson as a possible draft pick. It was even written in a program for one of Richardon’s games that the A’s had drafted him.

However, subsequent investigations have revealed that the Athletics did not draft Richardson. The printed information in the old program was incorrect. But don’t tell Richardson. He still thinks he made the big leagues.

However, Bill Richardson was really good at baseball. He played for his college team, Tufts University, and even played some minor league ball before moving onto a different kind of hardball- Hardball with Chris Matthews! (Apologies for that lame joke.)
